Job Description

The Thomistic Institute seeks a Grants & Events Coordinator for its DC office. This entry-level position reports directly to the Assistant Director for Advancement and, ultimately, the Director of the Thomistic Institute, who oversees all TI development efforts. The selected candidate will receive training and coaching from experienced development professionals in grant writing, grants management, and donor stewardship. The role centers on identifying and securing grants, with additional duties in organizing and executing select donor events throughout the fiscal year. Principal responsibilities include: 1. Grants - Research, prepare, submit, and track grant opportunities. Ensure timely reporting and maintain strong relationships with funders. Identify external funding sources aligned with the TI's mission and priorities: Lead the preparation, submission, and tracking of grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials. Cultivate and steward foundation and institutional relationships via correspondence and reporting. 2. Events: Organize and execute donor cultivation, stewardship, and appreciation events. Oversee event logistics, including securing venues, coordinating catering, managing invitations and registrations, and preparing materials. Track invitations, RSVPs, attendance, and post-event follow-up activities. Assist with donor hospitality during DC- based receptions, lectures, and special events. Facilitate post-event stewardship, including thank-you correspondence and updates to the donor database. 3. Support for Development Operations Help to advance departmental priorities through project support, donor engagement activities, and other responsibilities as needed. As needed, represent the TI by articulating its mission and introducing the core tenets of the Catholic faith and intellectual tradition. Important Traits and Skills:

1. A B.A. degree or its equivalent; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
2. Eagerness to learn and grow professionally; prior grants or development experience is not required; the right candidate will be trained.
3. Excellent written communication skills; ability to draft clear, persuasive grant proposals and comprehensive progress reports.
4. Good verbal communication skills; thrives working with people and building relationships;
5. Organized, responsible, self-motivated; comfort and precision in handling project logistics;
6. Ability to manage multiple deadlines with exceptional attention to detail;
7. Knowledge of the Catholic intellectual tradition and motivation to spread the faith by intellectual evangelization;
8. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
9. Knowledge of Salesforce or a similar CRM is a plus.

The Thomistic Institute is a research institute of the Pontifical Faculty of the Dominican House of Studies and an apostolate of the Dominican friars of the Province of St. Joseph. In this role, you will publicly represent the mission and values of the Dominican friars, bear witness to and teach the Catholic faith, and lead others in prayer as needed. Applicants must be practicing Catholics in good standing who fully assent to and profess the faith as presented in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. This is a full-time, in-office position in Washington, DC, requiring residency in the area. As part of the position, the Grants & Events Coordinator will be entitled to audit one course (free of charge) per semester at the Dominican House of Studies (e.g., M.A. level classes in philosophy or theology) during office hours. Class time is considered part of the workday and does not need to be made up later. All members of the TI team are encouraged to participate in the regular liturgical life of the Dominican friars (e.g., step away from work for Mass, the daily midday rosary, the divine office, etc.).
