The PRC is a visible role model, advocate, and member of the interdisciplinary SUD team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusting, recovery-focused relationships with patients during hospitalization and through community follow-up.
  • Use SBIRT and motivational interviewing to assess needs, deliver brief interventions, and develop individualized recovery plans.
  • Coordinate and facilitate connections to treatment and community supports (appointments, transportation, verification, outreach).
  • Provide peer support, education, and coping/self-help strategies to patients and families.

  • Complete required documentation, participate in team huddles and trainings, and comply with department policies and regulatory standards.

  • Certification: CCAR training required. Maryland state certification required within 6–12 months of hire (department support and reimbursement provided after passing).
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to establish trust and motivate change, competency with SBIRT and motivational interviewing, basic problem-solving and self-care practices.

Why Join Us

  • Make a measurable impact using your lived experience.
  • Work within a supportive interdisciplinary team with training and certification support.
  • Help patients transition from crisis to long-term recovery through hands-on advocacy and connection to community resources.

Salary Range: Minimum 22.33/hour - Maximum 36.86/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
