Role Overview:

This dynamic role gives practitioners the opportunity to move beyond traditional evaluation work and make a meaningful impact every day. You’ll support students through social‑emotional development, behavioral and academic interventions, small‑group services, and MTSS initiatives. Success in this position requires confidence in high‑pressure behavioral situations and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students who bring a wide range of learning styles and experiences.

 

You will serve the juvenile correctional facilities in Pendleton, Logansport, and LaPorte, with occasional travel to each site. Candidates may live anywhere in Indiana and will report to one facility or to Central Office.

 


Salary Statement :  

The salary range for this position typically starts at $59,800.00 to $75,000.00 and may vary based on education and professional experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems through meetings, staffing's, and case conferences. 
  • Help others understand child development and how it affects learning and behavior. 
  • Strengthen working relationships between teachers, parents, and service providers in the community.
  • Evaluate eligibility for special services. 
  • Assess academic skills and aptitude for learning. 
  • Determine social-emotional developmental and mental health status through personality testing. 
  • Evaluate learning environments. 
  • Prepare written reports for those students tested. 
  • Provide psychological counseling to help resolve interpersonal or family problems that interfere with school performance. 
  • Work directly with children and their families to help resolve problems in adjustment and learning. 
  • Promote tolerance, understanding, and appreciation of diversity within the school community. 
  • Collaborate with school staff and community agencies to provide services directed at improving psychological and physical health. 
  • Develop partnerships with parents and teachers to promote healthy school environments. 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of academic and behavior management programs. 
  • Use evidence-based research to develop and/or recommend effective interventions

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

  • State License as School Services Personnel or School Psychologist. 
  • Select (or develop) and administer age-appropriate evaluations that adequately assess a child's psychological, educational, and perceptual skills. 
  • Select and administer tests that provide adequate information. 
  • Select the appropriate testing procedure according to the child's cognitive and sensory abilities. 
  • Clearly and professionally report all pertinent information regarding psychological and educational issues in accordance with current legislation. 
  • Clearly and accurately explain test results and implications, as well as other information during consultations, case conferences, and upon request. 
  • Good expressive and receptive skills in American Sign Language. 
  • Knowledge of and adherence to the School Psychology Code of Ethics. 
  • Working knowledge of Article VII and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Graduate-level degree in School Psychology.

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
