About SAfG
Scientific Adventures for Girls is a Bay Area 501(c)(3) founded in 2014 with a singular focus: changing the face of STEM - one girl at a time, by removing systemic barriers to girls' participation in STEM. We provide afterschool programs, camps, and family events for TK–6th grade children — with a special emphasis on girls and under-resourced youth — to build STEM identity, belonging, and confidence. To date, we have had the privilege of serving over 14,000 children and families across the East Bay.
By joining the SAfG Board, you'll be standing behind one of the only non-profits in the Bay Area dedicated exclusively to dismantling these barriers through afterschool STEM programming for girls at Title I schools. Your support will help us reach even more young girls with programming designed to spark lasting STEM confidence and belonging, and to build the life skills they'll carry with them always: critical thinking, curiosity, collaboration, problem solving, perseverance, and determination.
You'll be joining a warm, committed community of people who believe that changing the face of STEM starts early, and who share a vision of a more gender-equitable world — A STEM workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities it serves where women, particularly women of color, hold equal voice, influence, and economic power in the fields that shape our world.
